The occurrence
On 25 July 2025, a Canadian National Railway Company (CN) unit coal train was travelling west on the main-track of the Nechako Subdivison when 35 loaded hopper cars derailed at mile 56, near Vanderhoof, British Columbia.
There were no injuries and no dangerous goods involved. The TSB is investigating.

The occurrence
On 12 January 2026 at around 0126 Eastern Standard Time, a VIA Rail Canada Inc. passenger train was travelling eastward on the main track of the Montmagny Subdivision when it struck two tractor-trailers that were parked too close to the rails near Saint-Alexandre-de-Kamouraska, Quebec.

The occurrence
On 28 December 2025, a train operated by Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway was travelling southward on the main track of the Wacouna Subdivision when 29 cars loaded with iron ore and a mid-train remote locomotive derailed at Mile 37.7 near Sept-Îles, Quebec.
The remote locomotive’s fuel tank was punctured, resulting in the release of approximately 1000 litres of diesel fuel. No injuries were reported.
